Lazy Day!

A friend of ours had some leftover Udi's Gluten Free Whole Grain Bread (1 Case) from a birthday party and gave it to us... so they got to have a "normal" lunch of peanut butter and jelly, they were so happy! Sides of cantaloupe melon balls, carrots, apples, and brownie balls.

Painting the Roses Red

The kids loved the red flower hot dogs, but my son wanted to paint them the next morning too. We got some mustard and ketchup out, our food paintbrushes and he got to work painting his flower hot dogs!

Included in this lunch is quinoa pasta, carrots, strawberries and broccoli brownies (shh! don't tell them!).

Flower Garden

I cut the hot dogs in pieces, then sliced them just a bit at the tops, cooked them in water until they "blossomed" and came up with hot dog tulips! Paired with broccoli, lettuce, and radish "apples" made with flax seeds. Sides of honeydew melon, apples, and poppyseed dressing.

Ladybug

This was my favorite so far! I colored white rice with beet juice, which made this beautiful color! Not red or anything, but it's so lovely! I punched holes in some nori with a hole punch, made a rice ball and turned it into this fun little lady bug! Gluten free spagetti noodles for the antennae, in a bed of rice... I think she is making her way over to that juicy red tomato!

Presents in Worms

My son named this one "Presents in Worms". I'm not really sure where I was going with this or why, just trying to do something with the gluten free spaghetti and leftover turkey ham, and using broccoli for bows. I also tried to use my mellon baller for our cantaloupe, and I wasn't having much luck with that!

Octo-dogs

The ol' standby for a morning I was running late... complete with mustard faces. With leftover gluten free pasta, peaches, strawberries and carrots.

Fairy Garden!

This was a fun little fairy garden I did with gluten free pasta, broccoli, and radishes as toadstool fairy houses! This one even got a little door. We also had delicious fresh pears from a friend's back yard to add to this delicious lunch! Butterflies were made with rice spring roll wrappers and a gluten free noodle.

Very Hungry Caterpillar

This was only day three and I was pretty sure I was already out of ideas. I had remembered seeing a caterpillar in one of the books I had looked through at the library, so I found these leftovers and made this little guy with rice and asparagus.

Ballet

We had just gone to see the ballet they put on for free down town. My children were enthralled and it ended up being a lovely day. This was my inspiration for these beef hot dogs and spinach on top of brown rice.

First Lunch

First day of school, trying to make lunch fun. I had a couple of rice molds and cut some spinach into shapes.  Not my most creative, but I think it will do for now. Also included is corn tortilla chips, golden raisins with a little piece of chocolate we had left over, carrots, and corn on the cob.
