Halloween

Halloween lunches for the week:

Ghost eggs. Nori punched with regular hole punch and hand cut mouth, on a bed of greens, with rice cheese cut with my letter cutters.  We dried the apple mouth with some cashew pieces. Whole Foods had these awesome ghost potato crisps! They were so yummy and so much fun! I drew a jack-o-lantern face on their cuties.

My little one, who is allergic to eggs, got a mashed potato ghost:

The hot dog fingers are always a hit! So gross though! I cut the hot dogs, then boil them in water and a bit of coconut aminos , added some slivered almonds as super gross fingernails!

Halloween Breakfast:

I tried to make some pancake ghosts... they didn't quite turn out as I had hoped, but they are certainly creepy!

A creepy pancake:

And some creepy eggs:

Dinner, which was supposed to be tentacle chicken pot pies in mason jars. I have not yet perfected the art of gluten, dairy, and egg free pie crust, so they were very difficult and frustrating to make, and I was so disappointed how they turned out, but, my kids were happy.

Dragon

My oldest is studying Ancient China in school and wanted me to make a hot dog dragon. I wasn't really sure how that was going to be done, but there it is. And yes, I forgot the eyes! Anneka told me I was right though, in adding the mustard, as it was supposed to be red and yellow, so I guess I did it right!

This all beef hot dog dragon is slithering across a street of forbidden rice (cooked in chicken broth).

Heart Dog

Nothing says I love you more than a heart dog!

All beef hot dogs cut on the diagonal, and toothpicked together as hearts, over a bed of mung bean noodles with a little spinach on the side.

Tiny Dancers?

In my head, they are dancers with spinach costumes. The
clementines are unsure...

I got a vote of Adam and Eve and cavemen...

Reindeer Games

My mom got me a bunch of those big Costco all beef hot dogs so I have been trying to find fun uses for them. Little hot dog reindeer... I am not thrilled with how the antlers turned out, but I will have to figure that out another time! I thought they were pretty cute anyway...

All beef hot dogs, vegan canola mayo and nori for the eyes, ketchup for the bright red nose!

Stockings

Hot dog stockings, cut the all beef hot dogs at an angle, and put them together with a toothpick. Pepper jack "cheese" cut and rolled around for the tops of the stockings. Easy and cute!

nom nom nom

Okay I am pretty sure I just grossed myself out.

For these super disgusting fingers, I cut some turkey dogs in half, then sliced some knuckle lines.  I cooked them up in Coconut Aminos (Two 8oz Bottles) and brown sugar for some extra creep. Slivered almonds for the fingernails, placed in some gluten free pasta and added some ketchup. Yum.

Monsters in Mire

Halloween season is upon us... time for creepy food! I sautéed some garlic in oil and then blended the heck out of some  leftover spinach, arugula and broccoli before it went to waste,  then mixed it with cooked up mung bean noodles for the mire. These are the big all beef hot dogs from Costco (thanks to my mom!), I made little diagonal slices in the hot dog and cooked them, which led to this monstery look. Fun, super easy and the kids love it.

This was supposed to be better...

So I went to Trader Joes! Picked up some gluten free onion rings, cinnamon raisin almonds, the kids were so happy to expand our daily food routine.

I was going to make some thing super awesome with the beef sausages and the wraps. I had seen a picture online and was trying to copy it in gluten free form, but... well. This is what happened. My oldest was happy and "decorated" the tray with some extra arugula and carrot placement and happily directed my photography for the morning.

Painting the Roses Red

The kids loved the red flower hot dogs, but my son wanted to paint them the next morning too. We got some mustard and ketchup out, our food paintbrushes and he got to work painting his flower hot dogs!

Included in this lunch is quinoa pasta, carrots, strawberries and broccoli brownies (shh! don't tell them!).

Flower Garden

I cut the hot dogs in pieces, then sliced them just a bit at the tops, cooked them in water until they "blossomed" and came up with hot dog tulips! Paired with broccoli, lettuce, and radish "apples" made with flax seeds. Sides of honeydew melon, apples, and poppyseed dressing.

Octo-dogs

The ol' standby for a morning I was running late... complete with mustard faces. With leftover gluten free pasta, peaches, strawberries and carrots.

Ballet

We had just gone to see the ballet they put on for free down town. My children were enthralled and it ended up being a lovely day. This was my inspiration for these beef hot dogs and spinach on top of brown rice.
